At BYG we're constantly replanting our gardens to ensure a steady supply of produce-particularly at gardens like The Open Door's where all of the fresh produce goes right into the food pantry and community programs. This means that salad greens and other speedy crops get reseeded over and over directly in the garden beds. Other crops, like broccoli and cabbage, we like to give a head start by seeding them indoors, right in our downtown office. Our amazing interns seeded these broccoli starts last week and soon enough they will be ready to transplant into our garden beds. Before we know it, these baby seedlings will be a delicious, nutritious meal on someone's plate!
