Backyard Growers' 2019 Volunteer of the Year Award

This year, our award for dedicated and enthusiastic volunteering goes not to one individual, but to two: the dynamic duo that is Joel Emerson and Peter DeNigris, beloved garden mentors at the Willowood Community Gardens, who volunteer their smiles and time every Thursday at Willowood. These super stars share their expertise and help gardeners troubleshoot any challenges they might be having so that everyone can put their best foot forward growing their own fresh vegetables.

At this year’s Great Gloucester GrowDown on October 1st, we were delighted to honor Joel and Peter for their tireless commitment to the growers and gardens at Willowood with the 2019 Volunteer of the Year Award. We could say a lot more about these two incredible humans, but this video by BYG Volunteer Annie Shreffler says it all!

Congratulations Joel & Peter! Thank you for everything you do for our community!
