2017 Backyard Garden Application

Our application period for the 2017 growing season is OPEN. Apply below and join our mailing list to stay in touch about all the garden happenings this season!

Applications are reviewed based on the following criteria: income eligibility, equal participation among the elementary schools, first-come/first-served and the availability of resources. No applicant will be discriminated against because of race, color, gender, national origin, age, religion, creed, disability, veteran's status, sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression.

Do you have an existing vegetable garden or do you need a new 4' x 8' raised garden bed from Backyard Growers? *
Backyard Growers will install a new 4' x 8' raised garden bed and fill it with 1 yard of fresh compost. Those with existing garden beds will receive 1" of fresh compost.

Are you available to attend the mandatory garden training on March 25 from 10 am-12 pm at The Open Door? *
NOTE: If you don't attend the garden training, you will NOT receive your garden bed.

All workshops are held at The Open Door from 6:30 - 8:30 pm. Participants must attend at least two cooking workshops, but you may attend all three.

To be eligible for this program, you must meet our income eligibility requirements. We rely on your honesty in self reporting your income. Based on the 2016 HUD Income Guidelines.
